David is a very well-spoken, electrical engineering student who also happens to be a record-setting distance runner for the Huskers. I was given the opportunity to talk with him via Skype (I apologize for image/sound quality, I am still playing with the software. Any suggestions are welcome).
David recently became one of the fastest 5k runners in Nebraska history at a meet in Washington, running a 13:48. He is also one of the fastest in the history of the state at 3k and to boot, his strength is in the Steeplechase. He placed 15th in the NCAA Outdoor Championship in 2009.
Below is the interview I had with him. We had planned on 15 minutes, ended up being twice that. It is easy to talk running. I have been around the sport for quite some time now, but there is always something to be learned.
From David, here is what I learned from him: Be consistent in training, be focused, never be afraid to go after it, have faith in your training and in your beliefs and in yourself. Enjoy.
