Leprechaun Chase 10k Prediction Contest

Time for our second annual prediction contest for the LC10k.  Started this last year to lukewarm turnout.  Hopefully we can get some more response here for the 2012 edition.

Here is the premise.  Click the comment link below and make your prediction (good idea for a prediction contest, eh?)  Here is what you need to include:

  • Who you think is going to win, the lads or the lasses.
  • For the tiebreaker, guess the winning time.  The person who is closest (least difference, going over does not matter) will win.
  • There will be one male winner and one female winner.  Winners will receive some sort of prize pack courtesy of the LC10k Brain Trust

Tom Nichols MALE 29 Lincoln NE Less Than 35 minute

The author of this site is included in the top males, though I will not pick myself not being anywhere top form.  But there are some legit names in that list.  The Matts, Pohren and Schneider, Eric Rasmussen, with training partners Eric Noel and Tom Nichols throwing down, and Danny McClenahan doing his thing it should be a fast guys race.  With the women, it appears to be the usual suspects including two Olympic Trials Qualifiers in Bridget and Kaci, don’t count out Christie as she has the potential to bring it, out of the blue.

Giving a group that talented five and a half minutes has worked out pretty well (though my bias towards the lads should never be underestimated) for the lasses in the first two years of the Chase.  But my XY chromosomes compel me to pick the fellas this year.  With the top two women coming off big marathons, not sure the speed is there to pull away. Combine that with a really competitive men’s field and to paraphrase the Beatles (or Black Eyed Peas, depending on your age) I’ve got a feeling about the men this time around.

Can’t wait to see your predictions.

  1. Ben says:

Lasses | Winning Time: 36:30 | 3 Peat for the Lasses if this comes true.

  2. Tommy says:

Have to go with the Fellas. 31:25.

  3. L-Dub says:

It’s the year of the fellas. Although there is some great competition, the little bit colder weather will slow the winner down to a 31:35 winning time, but still good enough for the “W”. Additionally, I predict five guys before the first girl (no disrespect intended).

  4. Schneider says:

sheesh those lasses are tough as nails…and that’s without a head start…
but still going to have to say pride in the lads will trump individual pride and a lad will get the overall win this year. in 31:12
