What animal would you be?
Came across THIS LINK in Popular Mechanics. Best animals of an activity (running) that only humans compete at (unless of course you consider evading capture/being consumed by a larger beast/consuming smaller beasts/simply surviving a relatively short and brutal life to be competition).
Anyways, I just hit two years on the site. Time flies I suppose. One of my goals is to get more reader feedback, though I must admit I enjoy your responses to me in person more than anything. Thanks for reading.

The Old(ish) Guy
One would think that as long as I have been in this sport, that the opportunities to experience new things would occur less and less often. Well, I had a new experience today.
The Lincoln Track Club does a great job putting on local events, supporting the community, and really just being a great organization (among many) that are grassroots here in Lincoln. Out of the race series that they put on, the Lincoln Mile is one of my favorites. It is just completely different from anything else around. Outside the high school and college kids, no one around here trains for a single mile. It is all just guts, hard running, and fun. Really, the damn race is over before you know it. Yeah, it hurts for a few minutes, but whatevs. Add in a new course due to construction on Memorial Stadium this year and we were ready to roll.
Favorite Thing, #10
We just got through one of the hottest, most humid stretches of weather here in Lincoln in a long time. Summers here are generally pretty crappy. Either humid on your morning runs or just plain hot during your evening runs. But as I got done with a hilly 8 miler in the country on Friday and doused myself with some ice water (I almost feel bad wasting that kind of water), I noticed one of my favorite things of summer running: When your sweat seems to be sweating. You have that initial sheen on your skin, then beads of sweat on top of that. Usually this condition is associated with soggy shoes, drippy shorts, and a really good run. Love it.

Maybe you want to take another 2.5 minutes and go back and watch that again and make sure it was real.
